Philosophy of Language

Course Description: An introduction to the philosophy of language. We will be concerned with the following questions: Do speakers of different languages conceive of the world in fundamentally different ways? Are the rules of language innate or learned? What is it for a linguistic expression to be meaningful? How is it possible for language to represent the world?
